There’s a flower child, peace loving vibe about this book! A young girl calls a family meeting basically to try to convince her parents of the need for ‘better’ jobs so that they can ‘buy a lot of nice new things’ and the story is about how she becomes convinced of the value of the life they live.

Max has two brothers with impressive collections—one collects coins and the other collects stamps. And while Max with his collection comes out as clearly the hero, one of the many great things about this brilliant story is that the work of his brothers doesn't get undervalued.

This book is a collection of photos from National Geographic that show people collecting and drinking water. Every photo is respectful of both the subjects and of water generally. There are no photos of water being wasted or even used recreationally. Wonderful for children, but adults will also enjoy very much enjoy it.
This handful of books provide good lead-ins to explicit conversations about race and ethnicity; some also highlight historical discrimination or hardship.

A brilliant gift book. We have quite a collection of princess-and-the-pea stories, mainly because Alec (our second son) was called Princess for quite a few years after a camp where he slept on a whole pile of mattresses. This one is great. Prince Henrik needs to find a proper princess to be his wife - and he does!
Ages 2 to 12 years. One of my children spent a considerable amount of time planning an around-the-world trip – a great way to while away the hours. It sparked a lot of conversation, which led to lots of research and plenty of fantasy play as an offshoot.
I wish we'd had At the Same Moment, Around the World at the time.
