Every road trip my family went on when I was young was accompanied by John Williamson songs; all of us singing away is a core childhood memory. It’s a tradition we happily continue with our own kids.
I was so excited when I saw that one of my favourite (and most relatable) songs My Dad Snores (you can listen to it here) has been made into a picture book.
It’s a funny story about (as you can guess) a dad who afflicts his family with his snoring.
My dad snores, does yours?
My grandpa snores too.
Through walls and doors,
It rumbles right through.
My mum’s nearly goin’ insane,
Though she kicks him again and again.
What are we going to do?

My kids absolutely love it (I guess they also find it relatable). Peter Carnavas has done a wonderful job of matching the humour while keeping the illustrations iconically Australian.
My Dad Snores would make a great gift for any John Williamson lover, or and child who’s father snores.
